In 1955, the construction of a mental hospital in Castle Peak was announced in the government gazette. In 1961, Castle Peak Hospital was officially opened by the Governor Sir Robert Black. Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust donated $500 million for the Phase I Redevelopment of Castle Peak Hospital in 1992.
