Chung Sing Benevolent Society – Choy Yue-fai Day Care Centre for the Elderly

Founded in 1915, the Chung Sing Benevolent Society was founded by four of hong Kong’s musical and Cantonese opera industry predecessors, Chen Shaoxuan, Qian Guangren, Li Shanqing and He Zemin. First named Chung Sing Theatre Society, to develop the interest of Chinese Opera and raise funds for Tung Wah Hospital by their performance. By 1919, the organization was expanded, known as the Chung Sing Benevolent Society, in addition to performance, also committed to the development of education and has launched 4 schools. Today, it has developed into a diversified, government-funded non-profit-making charity offering a wide range of services, including education, medical care, elderly care, reading centres, ambulance teams, drowning clubs and scout brigades.
