The Hong Kong Welfare Society for the Elderly was established in December 1977 to meet the needs of the community and to respond to the recommendations of the Government and the welfare sector. At present, there are 29 service units which provide day care, home care, counselling, education, retirement planning, elder care training and website services to more than 60 000 elderly people in the community. By using new technology, we provide elderly for rehabilitation campaigns through the Internet, increase leisure and entertainment, and contact with their families. Our crucial service is to offer residential service for the frail elderly, of whom about 600 are suffer from cognitive impairment.
