To identify elderlies who are suspected of Alzheimer. Knowing and recognizing that one has suffered from a memory problem early is important because doctors need to exclude other conditions that also cause deterioration of memory. Although there is currently no treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, other conditions that lead to memory deterioration may have a treatment or intervention. These conditions include other neurological illnesses for example Parkinson’s disease; strokes; and psychological illnesses, for example, depressions. An early confirmation of Alzheimer’s has many benefits. Patients can take actions that may slow down the progression of memory loss such as maintaining good health. Patients can also benefit for early planning and coordination working with healthcare professionals, social workers and caregivers so that normal daily functions can be maintained longer and transition to assisted living smoother. Providing assessment services in community environments for suspected patients can reduce their nervousness or resistance of treatment. All assessments are conducted by professionals such as registered nurses, occupational therapists or social workers. Use of internationally recognised and applicable assessment tools for local elders to conduct in-depth assessments of cognitive function, sentiment, physical function and other cognitive impairment symptoms. After the assessment, if necessary, appropriate counselling services or medical referrals will be made to enable patients to receive proper treatment as soon as possible.
